Word and branch scoring

Each draw forms an eight-symbol word using independent fair choices of 0 or 1. All 256 words are equally likely. One whole stake covers the entire word; there are no separate row stakes or reel payouts. The score comes from a prefix tree of the word’s eight nonempty suffixes. Each suffix has an end marker distinct from 0 and 1. A shared prefix counts as a branch if at least two different labels can follow it, including the end marker. Each such nonempty prefix earns its length squared, counted once. Add those weights for the raw score. The empty root earns nothing. The end marker matters when a suffix also begins a longer suffix.

Mode-specific normalization

Choose Score, Score squared or Score cubed. Gross return equals 0.96 × captured stake × the selected power of raw score ÷ the mean of that same power over all 256 words. The separate means are 26.9140625 for score, 1,060.9765625 for score squared and 65,163.3359375 for score cubed. Changing the power does not change the word or its raw score. Gross includes the stake; subtract the stake to calculate raw net profit. Raw scores range from 10 to 140, and all 256 words score positively. A positive score and positive raw gross return do not guarantee a net gain or a whole-coin credit on an individual draw. Each mode has an exact expected unrounded gross return of 96% of the stake. This is not a 96% winning probability or a promised session result. Saved simulation measurements are samples, not the payout formula.

Worked words and gross return

For 00000000 or 11111111, the branching prefixes have lengths 1 through 7, so the raw score is 1² + 2² + 3² + 4² + 5² + 6² + 7² = 140. The words 01010101 and 00110011 score 91 and 31 respectively. At stake 20 in Score mode, raw score 31 returns 0.96 × 20 × 31 / 26.9140625 ≈ 22.114833 coins gross, for raw net profit of about 2.114833. With no previous carry, settlement credits 22 whole coins and saves about 0.114833.

Captured controls and timing

Stakes are 10, 20, 50, 100 or 200 virtual coins. Defaults are stake 20 and Score mode. Draw word deducts one whole stake and captures the stake and mode for that draw. Stake, mode, refill and a second manual draw remain locked during the active draw and any auto queue. Sound remains available. There is no early bank or cashout choice. Normal animation is about 480 ms; reduced motion can settle earlier.

Auto and Stop

Auto ×10 starts at most ten sequential draws, including the first one. Each new draw requires enough balance for its captured stake. Stop future draws cancels the remaining queue and any waiting interval, but an active draw still settles. The normal interval between queued draws is 180 ms after settlement. Settings and refill stay locked while the draw or queue is active; they unlock when both are finished or canceled.

Whole coins, carry and reload

A new wallet starts with 1,000 virtual coins. Browser localStorage saves balance and fractional carry, including a zero balance. Settlement adds raw gross return to prior carry, credits the whole-number part and saves the new fractional remainder. While idle below 10, manually restoring sets the balance to 1,000; it does not add 1,000 and preserves carry. Reloading an unfinished draw loses its state and cancels the future queue. Its already deducted stake remains deducted; there is no payout, refund or resumed draw. Saved balance and carry remain, but settings return to stake 20 and Score mode. Clearing cached files can leave localStorage intact. Removing this site’s stored data may erase wallet values.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the end marker affect scoring?

A prefix can lead to both an end marker and a further symbol. Those are different outgoing labels and create a branch. The marker is not an extra random symbol.

Does cubing use the ordinary score mean?

No. Score cubed is divided by the mean of cubed scores, 65,163.3359375. Each mode has its own mean.

Does Stop cancel the current return?

No. It cancels future queued draws while an active draw settles. There is no early cashout.
